《妄尽还源观》,全称《修华严奥旨妄尽还源观》,一卷,是法藏晚年写的一部贤首宗的观法著作。
据他说是备寻三藏教典而集成的。此观的义旨和法藏的其他著作一样,建立在圆融法界无尽缘起论上。全书分作“显一体,起二用,示三遍,行四德,入五止,起六观”等六门。前三门是趣入的观门,显示众生心中本来具有的性德及从此所起重重无尽的德用。后三门正明观法,其中行四德是了悟圆融法界无尽缘起的理趣从而发菩提
心行自行化他的四德,是为观法打下基础的。
《妄尽还源观》的中心实在是止观两门,尤其是最后的六种观法。
起六观
依前即观的五止而起即止的六观:
(一)摄境归心真空观,观三界一切诸法只是一心所造,心外更无一法可得,由此息一切分别,悟平等真空。
(二)从心现境妙有观,观从真如体起色心一切诸法,具修万行,庄严佛土,成就报身。
(三)心境秘密圆融观,观诸佛证之以成法身的无碍心,与诸佛证之以成净土的无碍境,即如来报身及所依净土,或身中现土,或土中现身,依正圆融,无有分齐。
(四)智身影现众缘观,观智体唯一,能鉴照众缘,犹如日轮照现,逈处虚空,一切众生无不蒙益。
(五)多身入一镜像观,观毗卢遮那由深定力十身互用,或以一身作多身,或以多身入一身,如镜现像,无有障碍。
(六)主伴互现帝网观,如以自为主,望它为伴;或以一法为主,一切法为伴;或以一身为主,一切身为伴;主伴互现,重重无尽,犹如帝释天宫所悬的珠网,光光交映,无尽无穷。
以上所述六重观门,其一一观皆悟入法界要门,举一为主,余五为伴,随入任何一门即具余门而全收法界,所以法藏最后举圆珠六孔喻,说“如圆珠穿为六孔,随入一孔之中,即全收珠尽”。
